ARCHIPEL is a collaboration between members Remco Jacobs, Guusje Ingen Housz and Stef Veldhuis. Archipel is a recurring lecture night for artist from the city of Utrecht. The goal of ARCHIPEL is creating a connection between the artist from the city and mapping out the cultural islands within. During the lectures we present a broad range of views on art and the art-scene. Doing so we hope to expand the artistic framework of our audience and ourselves.
ARCHIPEL #2 took place on the 13th of march 2017 at De Kargadoor in Utrecht. The theme of this meeting was Culture/Nature. During this evening speakers Anne Boeschoten [actor] and Isis Germano [dramaturg and performance scolar at the UU] talked about the relationship between biology, politics and the arts. About the refugees of Shakespeare and the micropolitics of looking at each other. About political theatre and aesthetics. You can listen to an expert of the evening here: ARCHIPEL #1 took place in October 2016 and discussed the potential of Utrecht as a cultural metropole by looking at it's past, present and future together with speakers Jan-Willem van Noord [art-historian] and Martijn Buser [programmer of the Gaudeamus Muziekweek]. You can find an excerpt of this night here (dutch only).
